Spanx Creates a Buzz During Oscar Weekend

I had the awesome opportunity to view the latest craze during Oscar Weekend- the Spanx Celebrity Booty Bus, a “straight outta London” red double-decker bus in all it’s Spanx glory. The day, I was limited in time, but still had a tour of the bus (this was its inaugural tour) , thanks to the lovely Desiree Ontiveros of Chic Little Devil Style House. The bus served as the ultimate Spanx media lounge for media, editors, celebrities and stylists to attend, browse the latest trends and leave with some great Spanx swag. On the day of the Oscars, it hosted the largest Oscar’s Red Carpet viewing party in LA on a 16ft by 9ft outdoor television. First, for those of you who aren’t familiar with the Spanx brand (before the bus, I have to admit, I was a “Spanx-Virgin”)…. It was created by Sara Blakely ten years ago. This consumer-turned-entrepreneur was frustrated by visible panty lines and uncomfortable thongs and decided to take matters into her own hands. To this day, she has helped create more than two-hundred products for troublesome areas. She has since reinvented the bra with her Bra-llelujah! collection. In 2006, she launched the ASSETS collection to help women achieve their red carpet look for less. Then, in 2009, she launched the Haute Contour lingerie-inspired collection that is know as the “dessert of shapewear.” Spanx continues to grow and define their place in womens shapewear, including delving into swimwear and now offers mens cotton and zoned performance undershirts and cotton comfort bottoms. One of the fun facts I learned about the brand, is that it takes eight hours to make their hosiery products and are touched by forty women (as 85% of the company are women). According to the brand, the number one best selling shaper is the “Slim Cognito Shaping Mid-Thigh Bodysuit.” I was excited to have been gifted the “Slimplicty Panty” in black and the “Super Higher Power Spanx.” Let me tell you, this brand means business. I’m already small, but both products whittled away my problem areas. I felt amazing in my dresses when I had events to attend. The material is not of cheap quality either, once you feel it, you know that it’s only of the highest quality. I hope Spanx brings out the bus for the next awards season!

Petro Zillia/Forever 21 Collaboration Launch Party

The lovely Americana at Brand was the backdrop for the evening’s festivities at the mall’s Forever 21…. It was the official launch party for the Petro Zillia and Forever 21 Collaboration. The front of the store housed a buffet of candies in pink hues, while hostesses wearing pink wigs were dishing out the candies into little baggies for the guests. Behind the buffet were the racks of sweaters, shirts, dresses, hot shorts and bandeaus in bold, rainbow prints, created with love by Petro Zillia designer- Nony Tochterman. “For this collection, I was inspired by everything loving, happy and bright. Looking at it, you’ll be immersed in upbeat colors and wild and untraditional combinations, like my favorite print with heart and stripes. I have every intention to inspire the Forever 21 customer to remember how wonderful life is and to be happy as they wear my designs,” Nony explains. “I was super excited to partner with Forever 21 since I’ve been a fan and customer along with my twelve-year-old daughter Romie.” Prices for the collection range from $12 for the bandeau top to $28 for the tulle party dress.

Along with shopping the collection, guests also were able to enjoy a cotton candy station ( pink cotton candy of course!)and a station where people could film a 7 second scenario for their own flip books with the help of Kimmy Leighton of A Little Scene Flip Books.
