Teen Vogue Haute Spot Featuring Nixon

During the latter part of March and the beginning of April, Teen Vogue hosted a concept store in South Coast Plaza, featuring product that was personally picked out by the editors of Teen Vogue. I happened to be in town when the store, known as the Teen Vogue Haute Spot, was holding a presentation featuring Nixon accessories. Upon walking into the store, it was like teen’s fantasy…. pink and white cake pops, stacks of Teen Vogue magazines…drinks by Izze…fun crazy straws in a variety of colors…a small listening lounge with five MacBook Pros and Nixon headphones… and product! All the store’s associates were very friendly and helpful. Of course, no event couldn’t be complete with a swag-bag! In order to receive the ‘ultimate’ Teen Vogue swag-bag, you had to buy $20 worth of product from their sponsors. I ended up purchasing a DIY book, “P.S.- I made This” by Erica Domesek and a pink ‘Teen Vogue IT Girl’ rubber bracelet by celebrity designer- Jac Vanek. There was a short fashion presentation, featuring the latest must-have Nixon accessories; and was MC’d by Ruth, who is a stylist in the industry. She explained the five most popular Spring trends: “Beachside Bombshell,” “We want the Punk!,” “Big and Bold,” “Pretty Lady,” “Prom Queen;” while each model took her turn on the runway. I really enjoyed the “Prom Queen” trend… It gives a new fun twist to the traditional prom attire. Pairing a solid color tee with a vintage-inspired prom dress, add some vintage and costume jewelry and maybe throw on a pair of TOMS or Keds and voila! My how the generations change… The show was followed by a few giveaways and more shopping opportunities.

Fashion Week Featuring Cowgirl Heaven and Holly Waas

My friend, Houstina Summers held a fashion show at the AGENDA Loft during LA Fashion Week, along with Holly Waas. The lovely model and actress- Emma Zerner hosted the event. I was fortunate enough to own a couple CGH dresses and wore the mini light pink halter to the affair. First up was Indie designer Holly Waas, who showcased her line of fun tops, skirts and dresses. There was a short intermission and then the Cowgirl Heaven show started. Houstina’s collection, themed “Winter Love, Romance” had me saying “ooo and ahhh” as each model walked the runway. The collection has since continued to blossom since the first time I saw it a couple years back. It went from short halter dresses to strapless, spaghetti straps, jackets, tops and now- shoes! The shoe collection was fierce, with heels snazzed up with large pink jewels, flowers, spikes, feathers and pearls. According to Houstina, “I wanted to create a shoe line that will spark the imagination for your wardrobe.” Indeed, it will create a spark… I wouldn’t be surprised if I saw them on Lady Gaga during the next Grammy awards red carpet. There really wasn’t one favorite piece in my opinion, because EVERY piece was amazing in its own right. Houstina’s favorite is the grey victorian jacket. She told me she already had a pile of orders for it. Prices for the collection range from $250-650. She has a studio in downtown LA and will be opening a flagship boutique with her sister and mother. The grand-opening is set for the art walk in April, so stay tuned! For more information, check out her website and blog.

Miss Kelly O/Material Girl Fashion Event- Macy's

I was happy to be in attendance for the unveiling of the new face of Madonna and daughter, Lourdes’s Material Girl Collection- Miss Kelly Osbourne. The event was also hosted by Nick Verreos and featured a short runway presentation. Kelly wore pieces from the collection and she looked AMAZING in a customized light denim jacket, white tee with black polka-dots and floral miniskirt with ruffle. Kelly was introduced to Lola (Lourdes), who loved Kelly’s style… She (Lola) in turn, wrote a blog about her and then the next thing Kelly knew, she was the new face of Material Girl. Kelly, who prefers sweatpants after a long day on set, adores Elizabeth Taylor, Audrey Hepburn and Vivienne Westwood and often refers to them as her style inspirations. She also credits the city of London, “where you can be who you want to be and not be judged for it…” She loves the Material Girl collection because the clothes are girly but you can find a way to dress it up to be edgy as well. The collection is meant to be mixed up, like striped top with a floral skirt and colorful tights. I really enjoyed the fashion show (Madonna’s “Material Girl” was jamming in the background) and got some great ideas on how to style the looks for myself. I was also impressed with the quality of the garments to price ratio, with nothing going past $50….LOVEEEE IT!! Check out the Material Girl Blog and shop the collection HERE.

Special Thanks: I want to thank Danica, Britton and Liz of beeverywhere and Sevans Strategy for the lovely gift card, which I will spend on some Material Girl must-haves! Nick Verreos, Kelly Osbourne, Maria Solis and the staff at Macy’s.
