A Fashionable Afternoon @ Hollywood Tower!

My friend, Kate and I ventured over to Hollywood to hang out at the “An Afternoon of Fashion” event held at the exclusive Hollywood Tower Apartments. The afternoon was filled with friends, shopping, food trucks (Cool Haus, Crepe ‘n Around and Get Toasted) and a pit-stop at 101 Coffee Shop. There was a VIP Blogger Lounge, put on by Sasha of LA Inspiration, Deniz of Le Fashion Monster and Melissa of The Key to Chic (and working for Bakers blog- Shoeternity, that day). It was really nice that the blogger lounge was set up inside the lobby of the Hollywood Tower, as the temperature was a scorcher that day! Guests had their choice of mingling, having fun in the photo booth and sipping some lemonade, kindly provided by fab LA-based swimwear line- Haus of Pink Lemonaid Of course, there was also plenty of shopping to be had. Vendors include: William B + Friends, Le Fashion Truck, Blaque Label, Jewelmint, Skulltastic, Wood Eco-Eyewear, Pocket Square Clothing and more! Tunes were provided by 98.7.

It was my first time stopping by the Le Fashion Truck- a cute little fashion boutique on wheels. The mobile shop on wheels was created by friends and small business owners- Stacey Steffe and Jeanine Romo. The shop features their lines, indie and local labels, as well as some vintage items. I thought that the little dressing room (and the fact that they were able to fit a dressing area in the truck) was just the cutest thing! Check out more information on Le Fashion Truck here. There was also another mobile fashion boutique on hand- William B + Friends- which is a mobile designer sample sale truck. William B + Friends was founded in 1985 and sold apparel, accessories and home decor at competitive pricing. Find out more on their website and Facebook. I met with Chris Erven, one of the co-founders (CJ Thomason is the other co-founder) of Wood Eco Eyewear (Sires Crown Eyewear), an LA-based accessories line that features trendy wooden shades of all styles and sizes. Worried about prescription glasses… they’ve got you covered! Their goal is to plant over 100,000 trees with help from ‘Trees for the Future.’ Check out more information here.

It was such a lovely afternoon and I’d like to thank Hollywood Tower apartments, the vendors and the bloggers who hosted the VIP Blogger Lounge. I’d also like to thank the 101 Coffee Shop, where we had a late-afternoon lunch. The veggie sandwich and sweet potato fries were amazing!!

An Afternoon with NYDJ

It was a sunny afternoon in West Hollywood, when I arrived at the luxurious Sunset Tower Hotel to preview NYDJ (Not Your Daughter’s Jeans) Spring 2012 collection. NYDJ was founded in 2003 and focuses on comfort, chicness and also and most importantly- that the jeans are figure flattering. All the jeans contain their signature Lift Tuck Technology, which flattens the stomach, lifts and reshapes your curves so that you look a size smaller. The preview event was held in one of the 2-story townhouse suites. Guests were invited to try on the many styles of jeans and have their pictures taken in front of the step-n-repeat. Not to mention, there was also an appetizing array of munchies and and drinks to appease every palette. NYDJ’s design director- Deanna Herron was on hand to explain about what to expect for Spring 2012 (prints, shorter ankle lengths, new washes and lots of bold color). I tried on three different pairs of jeans and it was great getting Deanna’s feedback on fit. Every guest went home with a new pair of figure flattering jeans. I chose the Alisha Skinny in purple. I’m excited to wear them with either neon or color-blocked tops and accessories! For more information on NYDJ, check out their website.

Breathe LA Presents: "Attire to Inspire" Fundraiser & Fashion Show

I was invited to attend the first unofficial kick-off fashion event for LAFW- “Attire to Inspire” fashion show presented by Breathe LA, held at the Conga Room at LA LIVE. The show featured designs by Moods of Norway, VBN Clothing and Yotam Soloman. Before the show started, the over 400 guests were invited to partake in cocktail hour and a silent auction. Moods of Norway was my favorite show of the evening. This was Simon, Peder and Stefan’s first U.S.fashion show for their line and it was great to be apart of it. The collection “Cocktail Mountaineering” boasted rugged-meets-preppy looks for their mens and womens looks. I must say, they really know how to dress a man in subtle floral prints! I also loved the mixture of velvets and knits with dress shirts and bow ties. For more information on this quirky bunch who “make happy clothes for happy people around the world,” check out their website. The second collection to stroll down the runway was an eco-friendly contemporary menswear line called- VBN Clothing (Vicarious by Nature). The duo behind VBN- Kirk, Devon and Eric decided to mix different classic styles for their Fall 2012 collection, like thin scarves, sweaters, loose chinos with rolled up hems (my personal fave) and surf wear. For more information on VPN, go here. The last line to present is LA-based designer Yotam Solomon, who also strives in making avant-garde clothing for the eco-friendly lifestyle. That evening he also debuted two menswear looks. The blazers were smartly tailored and perfect for a red carpet event. My favorite look was the strapless red knee-length dress with simple draping. Yotam showed a finale dress- a simple light blue and white dress with tiered skirt. The color of the dress represented the sky, because Yotam designed that dress specifically for Breathe LA- a nonprofit organization, dedicated to improving lung health and air quality in Los Angeles. The dress will be later sold to benefit the organization. Check out more information on Yotam Solomon here. The event turned out to be a huge success, as over $40,000 was raised for the organization.

Special Thanks to Robert G., designers, models, Conga Room and for more information on Breathe LA, go here.
