I recently received some dainty jewelry from my lovely friend, Julia LoVan- a jewelry designer and consultant out of California. LoVan, an Iowa native, is currently residing in Orange County and not only creates jewelry, but is also working on a summer collection of sewing patterns for the modern gal. She explains, “This first collection will be a grouping of patterns that I feel any modern gal would like to know how to make for herself and for her loved ones, like a classic dress silhouette, a purse, or a camisole. After years of creating product, I found that teaching others to sew quality items for themselves (or mend their favorite items) was one of the best things I could do to help them live a less consumerist lifestyle.”

I received the Lariat Hammered Necklace, a Bracelet Stack, with a Bright Sky Blue Faceted Glass Beaded Bar Bracelet. These pieces are from the Rise jewelry collection of her ‘pet project’ – J. LoVan. J. LoVan is a sustainable company that helps to empower both local and global communities. Julia’s designs are crafted from upcycled, vintage, and new materials. I wanted to pair the bits and baubles with my white, gauzy vintage dress and olive green vintage vest because I feel that LoVan’s jewelry exudes an earthy-bohemian vibe, which is what my “wardrobe mood” was that day. Be sure to also follow Julia over at TrouvesHome.com and on Instagram.
