HITC DESIGNER PARTY

I went to the “Hope in the City” designer bag party and while there, I met this chick, wearing the coolest outfit. I’d like to introduce Jordan Miller… This current FIDM student has enjoyed everything fashion since she was fourteen. The growing mounds of fabric that would accumulate in her house would later turn into outfits for her and her friends. After high school, she went on to college, along with making clothes and holding private, public and charity fashion shows. Jordan, who never likes to wear anything twice, is inspired by life and (in regards to the outfit she is wearing in the photos) was inspired by pirates (for the shirt). Her skirt was part of a collection she did for a charity show in Reno, which was inspired by love. Her leggings were designed as a solution to her layered aesthetic being too hot (temperature-wise). She hopes to expand her business vertically and horizontally in all aspects of the fashion industry and work with other artists, making art and helping to boost each others careers.
Her website is currently under construction, but I will post it when it’s up. In the meantime, Jordan can be contacted via email: Jordan@reddirtrainbow.com or call: (775)230-0440.

*Crocheted Plastic Bag by Mische Kang*
Mische explains the construction of the bag and its durability, “First, I cut plastic bags horizontally so you get circular loops of plastic. Next, I string them together. Then, I crochet the string into the bag design…It’s super durable. I made it in January and have been using it all this time (June) with no problems. I like how stretchy they are because I can fit lots of stuff into them…”
She plans on making more over the summer. If you would like one, contact Mische at mischekang@sbcglobal.net.

F2 Runway Show at FOCUS (June 13th, 2011)
Meet Skye…

I attended the F2 Runway show during FOCUS tradeshow for LA Market. Out of all the fashionable people in the audience, blogger and vintage trendsetter- Skye Weinberg stood out amongst the crowd. I just loved how she kept the majority of the outfit simple, but included a couple statement pieces- a vintage Halston bed jacket and a handmade floral headpiece. The black tights against the cream platform Aldo heels, along with her leopard wrap added a nice, bright contrast to the mostly dark solid outfit. According to Skye, “…my outfits start off with a key piece, and then I’ll mix n’ match what will flatter my body best… My vintage Halston bed jacket is flowy and long, which creates the perfect backdrop for a body con skirt and lace shift top. Then I paired my look with black tights, since I’m not one to show off much skin, and also play up my cream Aldo vintage-inspired heels..My accessories are always where I love to ‘edge it up’ with patterns and stand up pieces; so my leopard wrap and handmade flower headpiece were the perfect addition to this particular look.” Simply lovely! Be sure to check out Skye’s blog HERE.
