Last night, I attended the launch party of a new addition to Houston’s art scene in Eado- the Sugar & Cloth Color Wall (and partial sidewalk). The wall is located at Headquarters (opening soon)- at 3302 Canal Street, you CAN’T miss it!

In case you didn’t know- Sugar & Cloth is a highly-regarded DIY/lifestyle blog by Ashley Rose, that is based in Houston, TX. I am really excited that she brought this fab color wall to the city, so that people can capture memories with friends and family. The party last night did just that… I saw families, mothers and daughters, bloggers, artists and photographers- take unique and fun photos, and just enjoying being in the moment. Of course, no party can be without a DJ and the peeps at Deep Eddy Vodka. Treats and bites were on-hand from local food trucks- El Tiempo (yummers veggie torta) and Frosted Betty.

If you do venture over to the wall, be sure to tag your photos: #sugarandclothcolorwall

A few months ago, myself, along with a few friends of mine, ventured about eight hours to the west Texas town of Marfa. It was a fun mini-getaway and full of desert wanderlust and plenty of locations to do photo shoots. We stayed at the historic El Paisano Hotel, where legendary stars: Elizabeth Taylor, James Dean and Rock Hudson stayed while filming the 1956 movie Giant. I highly recommend staying there while in the area, plus they offer a great breakfast.

We spent two days exploring the area including: Chinati Foundation, the Prada Marfa installation, downtown Marfa, Tumbleweed Laundry and Frama Coffee Shop, Do Your Thing Coffee Shop, Ballroom Marfa, Rule Gallery and Marfa Book Company. We also had no shortage of kewl instagram-worthy murals.

Huge thanks to the lovely Sofia Emm for the photography. Be sure to also check out her work HERE. If you’d like to see my snaps of the trip, check out my Instagram HERE under #CaptureMarfa. Or check out the full lookbook!

Brands included in the shoot: Curated Cotton, Big Bertha’s Paradise, Marci Rosenberg Collection, Darylynn Eyewear, LA Hip Threads, Eado Vintage, Born Again Vintage, Debutante Clothing, Matty M, Melissa Velia and My Flaming Heart.

My good friend Bridgett Artise- the brains behind Born Again Vintage– lent me this awesome re-constructed jean jacket with gigantic billowy sleeves. So, for Mr. LAFashionsnob and I’s side trip to Terlingua Ghost Town, I paired the jacket with vintage leather shorts, black jelly platform shoes and used a vintage full slip as a top. The highlight of the jacket is the back, which Bridgett used part of a thrifted tee, mainly for its quote, which reads: “The World is Filled with Copycats. But Very Few Originals,” – The Diamond Guy. Whoever this ‘Diamond Guy’ was, he knew what’s up.
