My dear friend and Vintagepreneur™- Sandra Mendoza, recently opened her first storefront- Debutante Clothing, in the heart of Downtown Pomona. She has been collecting vintage clothing from the 20s through the 90s for over twenty years. Eventually, her passion of hunting, finding and collecting vintage gems led her to start selling it online in 2005. Sandra mentions, “My passion for vintage glamour has led to me work on so many different aspects of vintage from selling to costume designers to writing for magazines. If it’s old and glamorous, I love it!”

Her new shop is housed in a registered historic building that was built in 1910. You enter through elegant old white French doors that once led into a reception area of a hotel that used to be above the shop. Debutante Clothing is more of a quaint boutique; with personable service, feminine black and pink decor and exceptional vintage. Multiple racks line the walls, while vintage accessories and other unique items lay strategically merchandised throughout the room. Sandra sells a variety of categories, ranging from some menswear to designer vintage and coveted lucite and metal handbags. She also sells some vintage-inspired pieces and a t-shirt of her own design that boasts: Lucite & Cherries & Leopard & Lipstick. I feel that she offers product that can fit practically any budget, yet the quality of everything is of the utmost highest standard. Most importantly, you can bet that when you shop at Debutante Clothing, not only are you getting amazing service from the owner (who is ridiculously knowledgeable about vintage), but you are also helping to support local and small businesses!

Glitter Boutique's 1 Year Anniversary Celebration

The small village of Claremont was THE place to be during one lovely evening in April. Glitter Lifestyle Boutique was celebrating its one year anniversary- which included sips and bites provided by Culinary Bliss Catering (LOVED the egg and avocade sandwich), tunes, discounts, shopping and LA based brand Shawl Dawls was on hand to provide demos of their chic shawls (which can be worn 15+ ways). You can read all about Glitter Boutique HERE. But since then, it has moved into another space in the same building. The decor was still feminine and creative. Young girls and women can still shop for apparel that suits their needs, whether it be for work, school, play, etc. Folks can also shop for accessories and lifestyle products (like cute printed scarves, scented candles, cell phone covers, quote necklaces, etc) as well. The shop now has an online store too, which is convenient if you’re not local. You can also check out their blog for updates and style inspiration! Cheers to Myisha for another successful year and many more to come! “I was so grateful for the love and support that was shown and that I encourage people to continue to support small business,” Myisha said.

Glitter Lifestyle Boutique is located 206 W. Bonita Avenue K-2 {Upstairs}. Their hours are: Tues and Sat: 11:00 am – 5:00 pm.

Macy's BarIII Invades the Rose Bowl Flea Market

One of my favorite brands at Macy’s- Barlll is invading some of the country’s hippest flea markets, one of them being my local flea market- The Rose Bowl. I managed to take a break from the heat in their massive tents and checked out their latest Summer 2012 womens, mens, home and jewelry collections. Their brand ambassador, Aimee of Song of Style was also on hand to show her favorite pieces from the collection, which included the Tropical Floral Print Shorts, the Dolman Sleeve Hooded Anorak and Sleeveless Scoop Neck Lace Tie Romper. I enjoyed talking and bonding with her and Refinery 29’s “Style Blogger” winner- Danielle of We Wore What?. Awesome girls! After much observation, I learned that Barlll is obviously such a fun contemporary brand, with affordable pieces that fit every wallet (nothing over $100). My personal faves include the Tropical Floral Print Shorts, One-Shoulder Ombre Belted Maxi (I loved how it fit and looked on) and the Sleeveless Scoop Neck Striped A-Line Midi Dress in black and white. I’m also a fan of their jewelry line- think chunky bangles, mod-inspired necklaces, jeweled collar necklaces and jeweled bib necklaces… Swoon! I’ll take one of each, please! Check out more information and shop the Barlll collection, go to the Macy’s website.
