Fall N2 Fashion Shopping Event
My lovely blogger colleague, My (Myisha) kindly invited me to her event, “Fall N2 Fashion”- a fashion and beauty shopping event held at the Royal T Cafe in Culver City. My hosted the event, along with her friend- Porsche Taylor. My started doing events about two years ago initially because she wanted to showcase small and independent businesses and create brand awareness. The name of the event changes with every new season (i.e. Fall N2 Fashion).
I met a couple vendors at the event. Miah Richey of Trendsetters America. Miah is the founder and has over seventeen years experience as an image consultant for the company, which started in 2008. They specialize in seasonal fashion shows and host private events that showcase the latest trends.
I then ran into a friend of mine and realized that her daughter was a vendor-selling her jewelry. Meet Jennifer Linardi of Eleven Dreams Jewelry. The idea started in February of 2009 when she needed birthday present ideas for her two friends. She decided it was something she really enjoyed doing and provided a creative outlet. She finds her inspiration through her everyday life. “I don’t look in the magazines or at the latest fashion trends for inspiration. I truly go with what I am feeling at the moment, what I would like to wear and what my Mom would like to wear. Many times I have no idea what I am going to create when I sit down in front of the supplies and start putting things together.” She is very spiritual it shows through her work. “…the majority of my pieces come with a meaning card describing the power properties and healing qualities behind each stone used in a particular piece’s creation. Also, I smudge each piece with white sage to cleanse its energy before it is sold.” Her latest collection, which has been a big hit so far, involves a technique she recently learned- knotting silk cord to hold beads and charms along a necklace or bracelet, using no chain. Her materials for this collection include: Swarovski crystals, sterling silver plated beads, semi-precious gemstones, gold-filled beads and sterling silver and gold-filled charms with positive meanings (like Buddha, wishbones, horseshoes). She credits her mom, Nancy for helping her create some pieces. “It’s nice to sit with her sometimes and bounce ideas off each other. Every time we make something, we rush to the other for approval…She is definitely part of my business’ foundation and I am so grateful for her and all she does.” A couple of her favorite pieces are the thin hoop earrings with chains and the delicate wishbone necklace. She currently sells her pieces at Saffron in Sherman Oaks, California Dreamin’ in Texas, online and her website. She also sells at various events and markets throughout LA and hold “fashion boutiques” at her home as well as her client’s home. For more info, contact Jennifer personally at: jennifer@ElevenDreamsJewelry.com or (310)721-5991.
Other vendors at the event include: Susan Lily Silks, Votre Vu, Noriko Designs Handbags, Mary Kay and My’s own company- Springcart. (Be sure to check out My’s blog here.)
