A few months ago, myself, along with a few friends of mine, ventured about eight hours to the west Texas town of Marfa. It was a fun mini-getaway and full of desert wanderlust and plenty of locations to do photo shoots. We stayed at the historic El Paisano Hotel, where legendary stars: Elizabeth Taylor, James Dean and Rock Hudson stayed while filming the 1956 movie Giant. I highly recommend staying there while in the area, plus they offer a great breakfast.

We spent two days exploring the area including: Chinati Foundation, the Prada Marfa installation, downtown Marfa, Tumbleweed Laundry and Frama Coffee Shop, Do Your Thing Coffee Shop, Ballroom Marfa, Rule Gallery and Marfa Book Company. We also had no shortage of kewl instagram-worthy murals.

Huge thanks to the lovely Sofia Emm for the photography. Be sure to also check out her work HERE. If you’d like to see my snaps of the trip, check out my Instagram HERE under #CaptureMarfa. Or check out the full lookbook!

Brands included in the shoot: Curated Cotton, Big Bertha’s Paradise, Marci Rosenberg Collection, Darylynn Eyewear, LA Hip Threads, Eado Vintage, Born Again Vintage, Debutante Clothing, Matty M, Melissa Velia and My Flaming Heart.

My dear friend and Vintagepreneurâ„¢- Sandra Mendoza, recently opened her first storefront- Debutante Clothing, in the heart of Downtown Pomona. She has been collecting vintage clothing from the 20s through the 90s for over twenty years. Eventually, her passion of hunting, finding and collecting vintage gems led her to start selling it online in 2005. Sandra mentions, “My passion for vintage glamour has led to me work on so many different aspects of vintage from selling to costume designers to writing for magazines. If it’s old and glamorous, I love it!”

Her new shop is housed in a registered historic building that was built in 1910. You enter through elegant old white French doors that once led into a reception area of a hotel that used to be above the shop. Debutante Clothing is more of a quaint boutique; with personable service, feminine black and pink decor and exceptional vintage. Multiple racks line the walls, while vintage accessories and other unique items lay strategically merchandised throughout the room. Sandra sells a variety of categories, ranging from some menswear to designer vintage and coveted lucite and metal handbags. She also sells some vintage-inspired pieces and a t-shirt of her own design that boasts: Lucite & Cherries & Leopard & Lipstick. I feel that she offers product that can fit practically any budget, yet the quality of everything is of the utmost highest standard. Most importantly, you can bet that when you shop at Debutante Clothing, not only are you getting amazing service from the owner (who is ridiculously knowledgeable about vintage), but you are also helping to support local and small businesses!

Debutante Clothing Showroom Grand Opening

I was beyond overjoyed when my friend, fellow blogger and fellow lover-of-all-things-vintage, Ms. Sandra D, opened her new vintage showroom in downtown Pomona in a 1932 Art Deco building (that was once home to a daily newspaper). She held the Grand Opening celebration during Pomona’s Art Walk and guests were able to shop, mingle and have some champagne. The space is small, but hospitable, with a small changing area and a lounge. Everything was neatly organized and the clothes hung on pretty pink felt hangers. The pink curtains that hung on the large windows added a more feminine touch and complemented Sandra’s bubbly personality. Now, the vintage…O…M…G… Beautiful and wearable variety of coats, tops, skirts and dresses from the 1940s-1980s. Can we also say vintage Dior, Halston, Chanel, Gucci, Lanvin, Givenchy, Chloe and Celine??? Yes, exactly…. some of the many vintage designer brands that are offered at Debutante! Prices for the vintage goodness are fairly reasonable, but more upscale; ranging from $20-120 for accessories and $80-400 for dresses and coats. Please be aware that Sandra doesn’t hold normal store hours. She’ll be open once a month (usually during Pomona Art Walk) or unless otherwise specified (like for a trunk show), or by appointment. The showroom is located at 300 S. Thomas Street, Suite 312 in downtown Pomona (on the corner of Thomas and Third Streets). There is also a free parking lot directly across the street on Thomas. You may contact her via her blog/website, Facebook or Twitter. Also, be sure to check out her other site, Vintage Find It, which is a great site for finding unique vintage pieces for fashion and home.
