LACMA's "Fashioning Fashion" Exhibit

It was on a lazy Saturday when I decided to head over to LACMA to finally see their “Fashioning Fashion: European Dress in Detail, 1700-1915” exhibition. It featured over 170 looks of men’s, women’s and children’s clothing. The exhibit told the story of fashion over time, through the Age of Enlightenment to WWI, and how political events, technical inventions and global trade has affected style. It was amazing to see what the women had to endure…with all the petticoats, corsets and bustles underneath the clothing…Which has me feeling thankful that our society’s ways of dressing aren’t restrictive. But, on the other hand, the textiles and embroidery detailing of the clothing was just breathtaking. If you are into fashion or history or just want something to do on a weekend…this exhibit is worth checking out.

The exhibit runs from October 6th through March 6th in the Resnick Pavilion at LACMA. LACMA is located at: 5905 Wilshire Blvd Los Angeles, California 90036, PH:323-857-6000, HOURS: 12-8 Mon., Tues., Thurs; Closed Wednesday; 12-9 F;11-8 Sat., Sun.
