A Fashionable Afternoon @ Hollywood Tower!

My friend, Kate and I ventured over to Hollywood to hang out at the “An Afternoon of Fashion” event held at the exclusive Hollywood Tower Apartments. The afternoon was filled with friends, shopping, food trucks (Cool Haus, Crepe ‘n Around and Get Toasted) and a pit-stop at 101 Coffee Shop. There was a VIP Blogger Lounge, put on by Sasha of LA Inspiration, Deniz of Le Fashion Monster and Melissa of The Key to Chic (and working for Bakers blog- Shoeternity, that day). It was really nice that the blogger lounge was set up inside the lobby of the Hollywood Tower, as the temperature was a scorcher that day! Guests had their choice of mingling, having fun in the photo booth and sipping some lemonade, kindly provided by fab LA-based swimwear line- Haus of Pink Lemonaid Of course, there was also plenty of shopping to be had. Vendors include: William B + Friends, Le Fashion Truck, Blaque Label, Jewelmint, Skulltastic, Wood Eco-Eyewear, Pocket Square Clothing and more! Tunes were provided by 98.7.

It was my first time stopping by the Le Fashion Truck- a cute little fashion boutique on wheels. The mobile shop on wheels was created by friends and small business owners- Stacey Steffe and Jeanine Romo. The shop features their lines, indie and local labels, as well as some vintage items. I thought that the little dressing room (and the fact that they were able to fit a dressing area in the truck) was just the cutest thing! Check out more information on Le Fashion Truck here. There was also another mobile fashion boutique on hand- William B + Friends- which is a mobile designer sample sale truck. William B + Friends was founded in 1985 and sold apparel, accessories and home decor at competitive pricing. Find out more on their website and Facebook. I met with Chris Erven, one of the co-founders (CJ Thomason is the other co-founder) of Wood Eco Eyewear (Sires Crown Eyewear), an LA-based accessories line that features trendy wooden shades of all styles and sizes. Worried about prescription glasses… they’ve got you covered! Their goal is to plant over 100,000 trees with help from ‘Trees for the Future.’ Check out more information here.

It was such a lovely afternoon and I’d like to thank Hollywood Tower apartments, the vendors and the bloggers who hosted the VIP Blogger Lounge. I’d also like to thank the 101 Coffee Shop, where we had a late-afternoon lunch. The veggie sandwich and sweet potato fries were amazing!!

2012 Tasty Awards

I had the pleasure of attending the 3rd Annual Taste (TASTY) Awards at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood. The TASTY Awards celebrate the year’s achievements in food, fashion and home lifestyle. There was a pre-show red carpet and reception, as well as an after party, featuring samplings of chocolates, toffee from Toffee Talk, quinoa beet salad, cranberry bread, Think Thin bars, etc.

The awards ceremony itself lasted about an hour and a half or so. Celebrity presenters include: Joanna Weir (PBS and Joanne Weir’s Cooking Class); Chef Tanya Holland (The Food Network and Cooking Channel); Chef Nathan Lyon (The Food Network, Fit TV, Discovery Health Channel, PBS); Bobby Bogner (The History Channel, “Food Tech”); Fabio Viviani (Bravo); Michelle Harris (ION Life) and Austin Lau (YouTube). Winners of the coveted award include: Nail Files (TV Guide), Mad Fashion (Bravo), Steve Jobs (Outstanding Inspiration), Extra Virgin (actress Debi Mazar and hubby’s cooking show), No Reservations (Travel Channel), Project Runway (Best Reality Show), HGTV Design Star (Best Home Decor Series), Average Betty (Best Critic) and Style.com (Best Fashion Program). For a list of the rest of the winners and more information on the TASTY Awards, go here. It was a fun evening and I found some new shows I’m going to check out, like: The Naked Wine Show, Jolene Sugarbaker The Trailer Park Queen, Extra Virgin, Bitchin Kitchen, Nail Files (I had the opportunity to briefly meet Katie Cazorla and she is the sweetest!) and Mad Fashion.

FIDOO Presents: Holiday Swap 'n Shop

I had the pleasure of hosting a DIY session at the Holiday Swap ‘n Shop at Space 15 Twenty in Hollywood. The event was hosted by the fabulous folks at FIDOO.com. FIDOO is a helpful search engine that will tell you what brands are in what stores, all over the USA and will eventually reach oversees as well. Brands are able to create profiles and share social media updates, products, their website, etc. Be sure to check out their website here. The event was a chance for me to clean out my closet for the swap. In addition to the swap, there were a number of vendors, including: Lisa Michelle Collection, Han Cholo, Karlita Designs, Ohara, Future Standard, Project iPaw, Valou and more. Hosting a DIY was fun, especially because I could do what I enjoyed, which was making elaborate headbands. Supplies included tulle, rings, chain, sequin elastic, felt, garland and mini ornaments. Local bloggers who partook in the DIY were Teresa and Emily from The Style Map, Sasha from LAInspiration and Megyn from I Want It Fashion. I really enjoyed meeting new people and just having a blast! It was a great way to spend a Thursday evening.

I want to thank Jackie, who hosted the event, which also benefited the Los Angeles Youth Foundation; as well as all the vendors Space 15 Twenty , PopChips, 365 Hangers, the rest of the gracious sponsors and the folks at FIDOO.com. To check out more pictures from the event, go to Rony’s Photo Booth or here.
