LOFT Fall 2010 Style Studio Press Preview & Cocktail Party

The Chateau Marmont is like a small picturesque castle out of a fairy-tale; covered in vines and hidden away off the Sunset Strip. It was also the setting for the LOFT (formally Ann Taylor LOFT) Fall 2010 Style Studio Press Preview and Cocktail Party. The soiree was held in the lovely penthouse, which had a deck that offered a panoramic view of Los Angeles and the surrounding cities.
Each of the rooms in the penthouse was decorated in the “LOFT” lifestyle- chic and classy, which a homey feel and had models (including my friend, Brita) lounging around and showing off the latest collection “Perfect 10” by the Style Studio and hosted by celebrity stylist, Nicole Chavez. Some of my favorite pieces included: the gold and black angular necklace with black ribbon tie, the navy and white striped cardigan, chunky tweed mini, the the black/white blousy top knit dress.
Along with viewing the collection, I caught up with friends (and found out that Orlando Bloom and Adrian Grenier were in the bar downstairs) and mingled with actresses Brittany Snow and Kristen Bell and met the Creative Director of LOFT- Austyn Zung, who was wearing a stunning chain and clear stone necklace by LOFT.
Upon my departure after the party, I received a LOFT canvas tote that also included the prized black and white angular necklace, a LOFT lookbook and jeweled cuff.

SPECIAL THANKS: J, Lauren Stillman of LSPR, the models, Austyn Zung, Nicole Chavez, the Chateau Marmont and staff.

LAS Trunk Show at EM&Co.

My creative friend, Lisa Soltis and her hubby, Dan- who are the master-minds behind the hip jewelry line, LAS Jewelry, held a trunk show and cocktail reception for their latest collection, “Genus and the Species” at Em & Co.

The collection, comprised of hand sewn leather pieces, bronze or sterling silver metal and re-purposed chains; is centered around the theme of the desert, forest and field environments, along with the animal and flower life you would probably find in these areas. “We are continually inspired by old scientific textbooks and illustrations, animal anatomy and creating our own antiquity,” states Lisa.

LAS has taken LA by storm and has started creating a celebrity following, like: Russell Brand; Hayley Williams of the band, Paramore and Melissa Etheridge. Lisa explained that Kristen Stewart had recently chosen a LAS ‘Sabertooth’ necklace and to keep our eyes peeled to see if she wears it out. LAS has also been shot on Nina Dobrev of “Vampire Diaries” in NYLON magazine, as well as “A Fine Frenzy” in Style Section LA and has been seen on American Idol 2010 contestants.

LAS can be found in boutiques in LA, such as: TENOVERSIX, E.P.I.C., Em&Co. and Dialect. In NYC: Oak on Bond St. and online (which should be back up soon) and Sucre in West Village. Coming soon to San Francisco: Five and Diamond.

The price to own a piece of highly in-demand wearable art ranges from $85- 380. For more information or to make a purchase, go to http://www.lasjewelry.com or http://lasjewelry.bigcartel.com/ or contact Lisa directly at lisasoltis@gmail.com.

SPECIAL THANKS: Lisa and Dan Soltis, J, Em&Co., Eveline Morel-owner of EM&Co., Anna Ferguson of Stiletto Marketing (who was wearing a fabulous military-inspired creation by EM&Co.’s ‘EM Reconstruct‘ line.) and Lauren Stillman of LSPR.

Directives West Presents "First.LA" (LAFW 2010)

The first show I attended during LAFW 2010 was the First.LA show in the penthouse of the Cooper Building. First LA was presented by the group, Directives West. Directives West is the West Coast merchandising consulting division of The Donegar Group. Their mission statement is “We provide clients with comprehensive market analysis in all categories of business, including womens contemporary, better, junior, moderate, accessories, mens, young mens and childrens, with the unique perspective and indisputable influence of West Coast fashion and lifestyle.” According to V.P/G.M.M Janine Blain, First.LA was the first contemporary show in LA. Usually the contemporary market doesn’t have the opportunity to show, but nevertheless, the show was a huge success.  Of all the Fall 2010’s Seasonal Trends: ‘The Big Stitch’, ‘Luxe Military’, ‘Boudoir Treasures’, and ‘Game On’; Janine felt that ‘The Big Stitch’ and ‘Luxe Military’ were this season’s key trends.

Before the show, I chatted with fellow fashionistas and old friends, while meeting another friend Ashleigh McGrew, who is also a blogger, and her boyfriend Nick.
Ashleigh and I sat in the front row and watched as looks from over thirty brands (from the Cal-Mart, New Mart and Cooper Buildings) sashayed down the runway. My favorites included pieces from Black Collection, warm comfy knit sweaters, fun hippy-inspired pieces by Thursday Island, beautiful natural stone necklaces by Dara Ettinger, bold pieces from Niki Shadrow’s line, “Positively Bold” and willowy sequined tops by Dolan.

Special Thanks: Lauren Stillman of LSPR (www.laurenstillmanpr.com), J, Ashleigh McGrew & Nick, Ilse Metchek of the California Fashion Association (www.calfashion.org), Janine Blaine of Directives West (213-627-8306 110 E. 9th St. Suite A227 LA 90079) and of course, all the designers and models!
