As soon as I saw this fun red 1960s shift dress hanging on a rack at work, I knew I had to wear it. I loved the vibrant red fabric with large buttons; not to mention the sweet off-center Peter Pan collar. I also knew exactly how I wanted to style it. My aunt had given me a really cool pair of vintage 80s earrings that I actually had to change from pierced to clip-on, but thanks to Hobby Lobby, I was able to fix them easy-peasy. They are really quirky, with one earring saying, “I Might Go To K-Mart,” whereas the other says, “I Might Go To Saks.” If I had to choose, I’m going to Saks!

In keeping with my “edgy Mod” look, I threw on my vintage gloves, and added my 80s quilted cylinder purse and leopard print heels. The oversized sunglasses and hat (worn backwards) completed the outfit perfectly.

The boy and I were in Austin recently, just to have a quick getaway from the hustle and bustle of Houston. Before the getaway, I had also done some research (mainly Instagram) on some cool murals located around the city. The large “Willie Nelson” mural was done by Wiley Ross, and is located on 7th and Neches in downtown. The “You’re My Butter Half” mural is located on E. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd and Alamo St. The “Smile” and smaller “Willie Nelson” murals are located on South Congress by Hey Cupcake!.

I threw this outfit together when Shalanda and I got together for a last-minute meetup at Baybrook Mall‘s latest outdoor addition. It was my first time there and was impressed at the new outdoor space- complete with new shops, restaurants, and an extensive park-like space.
