Fall 2012 Trend Preview at Neiman Marcus- Austin

I was beyond thrilled when the folks at Neiman Marcus contacted me to attend the Fall 2012 trend preview at their store in The Domain in Austin. This was my first “official” fashion event in my new city, which I was excited to be apart of. The event was held in the morning and was rather intimate…only a select few press members were there. They presented ten looks to us, while introducing the latest Fall 2012 trends: “Mixed Greens,” “The Jacket,” “The Smoking Slipper,” “The Leather Leg,” “Navy: The New Neutral,” “The Statement Handbag,” “Borrowed from the Boys,” “Digital Prints,” “Brooches,” and lastly “The Fall Face” (make up). The stylists specially handpicked numerous designers such as: Rachel Zoe, Jill Stuart, Prada, Cavalli, Helmut Lang, Theory, etc. and did a wonderful job putting together each look. I think Carrie Bradshaw would’ve had a field day with the digitally printed dresses and pants, feather collar, Prada tote, Rachel Zoe’s new vintage-inspired jewelry collection (LOVE Rach!) and lastly- the stunning green Jill Sander gown with a dainty bow decorating the empire waist and then crossed straps in back. Now, I’m not one that really follows the trends, but I I feel that I could pull off “The Jacket,” “The Statement Bag,” “Brooches,” and possibly the “Smoking Slipper.” What about you, dear readers? What are your favorite trends this season?

Motif LA Opening Party

I attended an opening party for the cafe/lifestyle boutique- Motif, located on Robertson Blvd. near Beverly Hills. Having just opened, Motif was founded by sisters- Elishia Bolour and Sasha Shokrian. Together, they combined their skills; Elishia’s background in interior design and hospitality and Sasha’s knowledge of organic farming and opened Motif. The cafe was quaint and inspired by homey cafes in college towns. The menu was plentiful and provided organic, vegan and seasonal options; as well as a variety of coffees and teas. It’s a nice atmosphere for meeting friends or just relaxing and browsing the net, using their free wifi. The boutique side offers 21st century apparel, furniture and other home goods that are consigned. Picture Chanel, Louboutin, Prada, Hermes and Lanvin, as well as other fabulous designers. The sisters travel the globe in search of fabulous finds and are always on the lookout for unique and emerging designers to add to their eclectic store. If you’re ever in the neighborhood, are looking for unique gifts (like a Chanel lamp or a Louis Vuitton tray), stop by, shop and maybe have a light lunch while you’re at it.

Motif LA is located at: 930 S. Robertson Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90035. Hours are M-F: 8am-6pm.

Special thanks to the folks at Motif LA and Casey C. and Ann Flower at Ann Flower Communications.
