Houston’s Discovery Green, a lush greenspace located in the heart of Downtown, offers numerous art installations throughout the year. The one that particularly caught my eye was the latest: Los Trompos or ‘Spinning Tops’ – a colorful interactive space that resembles the familiar children’s toy. It was created by Mexico City designers Héctor Esrawe and Ignacio Cadena and was inspired by nature and traditional Latin American design, architecture and folk art.

Earlier this week, I grabbed Sofia for an early morning shoot there. I chose to wear all black because I wanted to show the contrast with the vibrant art.

** Los Trompos can be accessed at the park’s Sarofim Picnic Lawn from November 14, 2015 – March 22, 2016. **

"The World is Filled with Copycats. But Very Few Originals"

(Repurposed Jacket- Born Again Vintage, Vintage Shorts- Big Bertha’s Paradise, Vintage Necklace- bought in Round Top, Sunglasses- ZeroUV, Jelly Platform Shoes- bought at a vendor in Santee Alley (LA).)

My good friend Bridgett Artise- the brains behind Born Again Vintage– lent me this awesome re-constructed jean jacket with gigantic billowy sleeves. So, for Mr. LAFashionsnob and I’s side trip to Terlingua Ghost Town, I paired the jacket with vintage leather shorts, black jelly platform shoes and used a vintage full slip as a top. The highlight of the jacket is the back, which Bridgett used part of a thrifted tee, mainly for its quote, which reads: “The World is Filled with Copycats. But Very Few Originals,” – The Diamond Guy. Whoever this ‘Diamond Guy’ was, he knew what’s up.

Caftans are for Posh Hotel Pool Days

(Vintage Caftan from Refreshed Couture, Vintage Sandals- thrifted, Vintage Turban from Top Vintage LLC, Vintage Bamboo Handbag from Big Bertha’s Paradise, ‘Sabine’ Sunglasses c/o Darylynn Eyewear.)

Thank you Madeline Pena for the photos!

Being in a posh hotel pool environment literally SCREAMED ‘vintage caftan’…. and it was the perfect time to wear my latest one from Refreshed Couture. I chose my vintage bamboo handbag, white turban and oversizes shades as my jazzy poolside accessories. The photos were shot at the Houstonian Hotel pool.
