My "Sunday Funday" Fashion Show with Top Vintage LLC

Earlier this month, I collaborated with Top Vintage LLC and put on a small fashion show. The show featured my fellow bloggers and friends, who graciously volunteered to model. Since Top Vintage didn’t offer jewelry, I sourced local brands who wanted to showcase some of their best-selling items. The brands were: Skoutshop, FPCO Limited and Apothecary Collective. Local fashion illustrator and blogger Eva Duplan also came out to support, as well as vend her lovely illustrations.

That day ended up being beautifully pleasant and sunny, so we decided to take advantage of it and did hair and make-up outside. I had enlisted the help of make-up gurus: Beauty By LeRenda and Kolour Theory Artistry, who also humbly volunteered their time to help out. These ladies are a ‘dream team’ if there ever was one!

So the fashion show showcased looks that I styled myself. Every time I go to Top Vintage, my brain literally explodes with creativity in regards to styling outfits. Every piece I used was vintage. I also wanted to showcase the importance of sustainability in fashion. I mean seriously, why do I want to spend $50 for damn t-shirt with flimsy fabrics OR spend money on cheap crap that will just fall apart after a few washes?! This is why I shop at vintage shops, thrift and shop at places like Top Vintage… I feel like I’m getting my money’s worth on pieces that are one-of-a-kind and fun to wear. Anyway, I’ll let the photos speak for themselves. I had a blast fitting these lovely models and celebrating women of all shapes. This show was a great experience that I learned quite a lot and grew from. There will be more events down the road, so stay tuned!

Huge thanks to everyone that came out to support me. Thank you to Diane, Sofia and Kimberly for providing jewelry for the event! Thank you Eva for showcasing your talent at the event! HUGE thank you to Valerie- who was the BEST assistant a gal could ask for! World of thanks to the talented and wonderful MUA’s LeRenda and Krystal. Of course, the models- DeNeka, Cintrena, Mimi, Teriya, Tanaka, Syretta, Jasmine and Paola. Thank you to Liz, Andre and Nico of Top Vintage for collaborating!

I'm With The Band…….

**Thank you Nicole Kestenbaum Photography for the photos! I edited them. **

These vintage marching band pants are kinda everything aren’t they?! I swear, what CAN’T I find at Top Vintage LLC?! Pair them with a comfy simple tee vintage tee or sweatshirt with a pop of turquoise and leopard print…bam… perfect “I need to be at the mall by 9am on a Saturday” outfit. This vintage turquoise necklace from ATRS Recycling is my favorite go-to in terms of large baubles. The leopard print heel from Nine West…well…I can actually tolerate standing and walking for a good amount of time. Thank you NW for making a comfortable heel that my feet feel and look great in!

"Last Saturdays" at Top Vintage LLC

Located right off 288 and Holly Hall in Houston, Texas lies a hidden gem that is starting to receive local recognition. Top Vintage LLC is a wholesaler that caters to the vintage and second-hand clothing industries. They aren’t like your average “rag house,” they are more of an “upscale warehouse” in that they have an air-conditioned facility that is clean, organized by clothing category and even has a small sitting area and dressing room.

Top Vintage LLC was founded by longtime friends and vintage buyers- Andre Milioto and Nico Cid in February 2014. They have always loved fashion and it’s a way to combine their passion for fashion and recycled clothing. They can’t stand looking like everyone else in Houston, where fashion is more cookie-cutter and vintage/second-hand is slowly (but surely) gaining popularity. “We wanted to start something that we’ve never been to, that we would like to go. This (warehouse with AC and clothing at wholesale prices) doesn’t exist, so we thought ‘screw it, let’s start a revolution!'” Andre said. With that being said, their warehouse covers 6500 square feet and caters to retailers all over the world. The warehouse is exceptionally organized by clothing categories and offers a diverse range of vintage and second-hand clothing that focus on global trends. The guys themselves are very trendy yet stay true to setting themselves apart. They believe that it’s not about what you wear, it’s how you rock it.” I wear womens jeans because they look great on,” Andre stated. “If you think you can rock it, rock it. It’s all about confidence.”

They launched the concept of ‘Last Saturdays’ because they wanted a cool event with good loud music, alcohol, food, friends, fellowship and threads. It is a great way to get their name out there while also flipping product at a wholesale price. I’ve been to a couple of the events and I’ve enjoyed them. Usually, they’ve had either a blogger or stylist curate a collection and then have a local brand do a pop-up shop. I love shopping with them because there’s always something new and I love the thrill of digging and finding those gems. Plus, you can’t beat the prices for quality clothing that likely no one else will have. The staff is also friendly and ready to help style you or point you in the right direction. For event info (usually it’s the last Saturday of every month) check out their Facebook or Instagram.
